Designed for aspiring creatives ready to make their mark, this dynamic course equips students with the advanced technical skills, industry knowledge, and creative flair needed to thrive in the fast-paced fashion industry. This course gives students a strong foundation in fashion design principles, trend forecasting, textiles selection, patternmaking, and garment production. Students will also explore the commercial aspects of the industry, marketing and retail operations – ensuring students graduate with a well-rounded skill set that’s highly sought after by employers. TAFE Queensland’s fashion training centres are the ideal place for students to launch your fashion career. Equipped with numerous sewing machines, overlockers, computer labs and cutting rooms; everything students will need is at their fingertips to bring their creations to life and ready to hit the runway. Successful completion of this course will give students the necessary skills and attributes to seek employment as a fashion designer and stylist, dressmaker, machinist, tailor, fashion accessories designer and fashion retailer.

Students will be invited to complete a Skills Check after receiving an offer, before enrolling into studies. This helps students ensure the course is right for them and allows TAFE Queensland to understand students’ current abilities in English, Maths, as well as using digital technology.
The recommended benchmark levels for this course are 4 in English, 4 in Maths and 4 in Digital Technology.
If you are applying for a VET Student Loan the required levels to meet academic eligibility, as outlined by Commonwealth guidelines, is Level 4 English and Maths.
